This issue is still present in snapshot 13w42a for both regular and stained glass |

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.6.4 / Launcher version 1.2.5 ? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

Its nota glitch in the blocks the glitch its that the pane dont get darkness from the shadow and its more lighter than the block, I think |

That's why Its not a direct issue, because code wise its a lighting issue, its because of an underlying issue, Bottom line: Minecraft is code is poorly done. But remember this was one of the first things ever coded by the guy! |

Note: That this is a retention issue. Like Glow-stone holding sunlight. 1) Recreate it by making a dark room BLl0 SL0 RL0 Torches do not hold retain light. Before a block is updated its Sunlight or Lack of Sunlight is retained. This is why when a Block is removed the black lighting is also removed. Why glowstone? Well simply put blocks are treated different than something like a glass panel, pot, or sign. |

In at least 5 snapshots(pictures) the light comes from above, below, or both. in mine craft and real life the thickness is the same verticly and that means that no extra light should come through (see attached snapshot) |

|
Also note: In real life thinner glass lets more light through. |

This is not a bug. |

I think its the other way around, the glass pane is brighter than the glass block |

(Confirming for 13w04a.) It looks to me like the bug isn't related to darkness (block/sky lighting) but rather that the mild directional lighting which is applied to all normal blocks, making different faces different shades even if they're all equally sunlit, is not applied to glass panes — in the screenshot I'm attaching, see how the sides of the glass blocks are three different slightly-darker-than-white shades and the glass panes are not. |

|
But the normal glass block is a block, and the glass pane is a fraction of a block, like flowerpots, stairs, etc. |
| Comment by Kumasasa [ 27/Jan/13 ] |
|
Is it ? Both glass block and glas pane are transparent and solid. |

This seems to be the same problem of |

Glass and glass panes get their (front) texture from the same file. So surely one being darker than the other is a bug? |

|
I agree that this is a bug. Certainly not game-breaking, but annoying. |
| Comment by Ender [ 11/Dec/12 ] |
|
I don't think that this is game breaking though... |

Added another screenshot which I thought illustrated the problem better than any of the screenshots you uploaded. This is definitely a bug |
| Comment by MisterSanderson [ 15/Nov/12 ] |
|
The glass block is darker because there is much more glass blocking the light, this is not a bug. |
