There's still no way to stop Minecraft from updating the sound files without mods. Adding any custom sounds to the game is impossible up to now, after launching Minecraft, it automatically downloads the default sound and overwrites every changed file. Easy fix for this problem: soundUpdate:true |

OK, just figured out how to set the file to "read-only" on Windows 7. It's a bit weird, but should work as a temporary solution. |
