 Description

There's still no way to stop Minecraft from updating the sound files without mods. Adding any custom sounds to the game is impossible up to now, after launching Minecraft, it automatically downloads the default sound and overwrites every changed file.

Easy fix for this problem:
Add a line to the game's options.txt to allow people to toggle sound updates on/off, like this:

soundUpdate:true
or
soundUpdate:false

OK, just figured out how to set the file to "read-only" on Windows 7. It's a bit weird, but should work as a temporary solution.

This site is for bug reports only. For feature suggestions/changes please use the MineCraft Forums: Suggestions.

Also, please don't use a future version in the "affects" field, since you do not have that version.

Temporary Workaround:
Change audio files, and then also set it to read-only. This should work, as Minecraft will be unable to write over the sound files.
