Hi, this has been happening recently. I think this started around 12w37a-12w38a – I know it just started a few weeks ago, before I got 1.4.2pre. If it's something to do with programs, all I usually have open is Google Chrome, Spotify (though I usually close it out) and the Minecraft program itself. And for this session, all I had open was Minecraft and Google Chrome. Sometimes, if it's really laggy (and I mean REALLY LAGGY), I will close Google Chrome, although it still crashes sometimes. EDIT: I have 1790MB of RAM. (Random Access Memory) Any help will do! |

Hey, don't say his computer sucks. Mine has 1GB of RAM and I still run MC in 80 fps. |

You should do the following: RAM=Random Access Memory. The more you have, the more your computer can do at once. Of course, it also depends on the CPU's strenght. For example, if you have a 3 GHz CPU and 0.5 GB of RAM, then you have a problem. On the other hand, having a CPU of 0.75 GHz and 8GB RAM won't help neither. TL;DR The more RAM, the faster MC will run. |

I'm guessing you have less than 512mb free memory available and thus java hits a hard-cap trying to allocate more eventhough the vm was started requesting that amount of memory? We need machine specs |

This is NOT a bug. As you said in the title, Minecraft ran out of memory. Either you have to allocate more memory or just get a new computer. |
