I can reproduce this in 16w50a

Comment by Marcono1234 [ 16/Oct/16 ]

Removed the gamemode because it affects creative and very likely adventure mode as well

Comment by [Mod] redstonehelper [ 28/Jun/16 ]

MC-64919 initially included placing the glass pane you ended up inside inside yourself.

Comment by Fabian Röling [ 28/Jun/16 ]

MC-64919 was about something else all the time. In MC-64919 you were in the glass pane hitbox and could place a block somewhere else. Here you make it so that you stand in a block.

Comment by [Mod] redstonehelper [ 28/Jun/16 ]

Beds still reproducible (look at your feet, place bed), glass panes not anymore. Reopened and updated MC-64919, updating description here now.

edit: Tried with stairs, can't reproduce. Further testing required.

Comment by Fabian Röling [ 27/Jun/16 ]

Can anyone confirm for anything except fences? Else I would change the title and description.

Comment by null (Inactive) [ 23/Jun/16 ]

Confirmed for 1.10.2. To reproduce: Jump and place a fence under you. When you fall back down, you'll be inside the fence.

Comment by Robin T. [ 28/Jul/15 ]

Confirmed for pre-1.8.8

1.8.7

Comment by [Mod] redstonehelper [ 30/May/15 ]

@Marcono1234: I think being unable to place top slabs above your head when standing on a 0.5 high block is a different bug, please create a separate ticket for that.

Comment by Marcono1234 [ 29/May/15 ]

Confirmed for

  • 1.8.6 It doesn't matter what causes you to be a half block higher than the normal block height. It happens also when you stand on slabs or fences for example and right click the wall in front you with stairs. I can only confirm this for stairs. May be caused by some strainge mechanics as for example placing a stair and while standing next to it looking nearly straight down but still pointing at the edge of the stair places the block above the stair instead of next to it.

Note: For slabs it seems also different in a way that it won't even place them if the position is valid. For example an upside down slab above your head while standing on a slab. (Which means that between the two slabs would still be 2 blocks space)

Affects 1.8.2-pre7.

Comment by a [ 08/Nov/14 ]

In 1.8.1-pre4

Comment by Galaxy_2Alex [ 24/Oct/14 ]

Reopened, Thanks.

Comment by a [ 24/Oct/14 ]

Aye, present in 1.8.1-pre3

Reopened MC-667

Comment by Kevin Reid [ 26/Jan/14 ]

Stairs placeable intersecting the player confirmed for 14w04b. Note that you must be standing on the lower half of a stair block for this to happen as originally described.

Lily pads placeable intersecting the player confirmed for 14w04b, no special conditions. I stand by my previous claim that MC-667 should be considered a different bug than this, as lily pad placement is unlike regular block placement and the code causing the bug is most likely different.

Comment by [Mod] Ezekiel (ezfe) [ 26/Jan/14 ]

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w04b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Comment by Jeuv [ 24/Nov/13 ]

Still in 1.7.2.

MC-22395

Comment by branza [ 05/Jul/13 ]

Can reproduce with fences in 1.6.1, by standing on a fence and placing a block above it, in the same block as the player.

Comment by Jerry Hundric [ 02/Jul/13 ]

Can someone reopen MC-20278. The problem is that the code doesn't prevent the sending of the singal to place null blocks. Its also due to different code being used to send the actual message to place the block in the world. The solution I found was to move some code to a place just before the message is sent so that these messages to place null blocks aren't even produced in the first place.

Comment by Chris Koehler [ 26/May/13 ]

This may be related to the bug that allows clicking through corner stairs.

Comment by What A. Guy [ 29/Apr/13 ]

Also bugs with snow blocks (MC-14925)

Comment by Kumasasa [ 24/Dec/12 ]

Confirmed for 1.4.6

Comment by Tavis [ 02/Dec/12 ]

You don't actually need to be standing on any stairs. Stand on the corner of four blocks with a few stairs to look at, and try placing one on each of the four blocks you are standing on, looking back at the stairs between attempts.

Comment by [Mod] Torabi [ 01/Dec/12 ]

Kevin, lily pads are transparent blocks, just like stairs and beds, which this, and MC-2250 are about. The only one that might be a separate issue is MC-3402, which does not specify a particular block.

Comment by Kevin Reid [ 20/Nov/12 ]

Since my report MC-667 was closed as a duplicate of this, I am repeating it here since it is not about blocks placed on blocks, and so might not be actually the same bug:

Stand in one-block-high water, look down, and right-click with a lily pad. The lily pad will be placed intersecting the player.

Comment by Tavis [ 13/Nov/12 ]

Could you attach those images to the issue so people don't have to search through comments to find them? There's an "Attach Files" button at the top of the screen.
You can embed images as well, though it isn't necessary.

I'll try to upload a screenshot. I was able to do it several times. You have to click off to the side in order to get it to place. Looking directly down does not work, it needs to be on the corner.

Comment by Chalmes (Jon) [ 04/Nov/12 ]

Cannot reproduce in 1.4.2 either. Are you able to reliably reproduce this Paul?

Comment by Kumasasa [ 04/Nov/12 ]

Cannot reproduce with 1.4.3 pre
