Aha. Isn't famous youtuber an oxymoron, is it ?

Comment by Anıl Karabayır [ 14/Feb/13 ]

WTF is Etho ?

Comment by Gil Wanderley [ 14/Feb/13 ]

Etho complained, Mojang Fixed. Coincidence? I think not.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 27/Jan/13 ]

No, as Grum wrote, the texture of the map background fights with the drawn map data.

Comment by MisterSanderson [ 27/Jan/13 ]

Seems related to MC-220 (Z-fighting).

Comment by Max Filip [ 27/Jan/13 ]

Running 1.4.7 (vanilla smp client-side) and getting z fighting every time Im further than 5-10 blocks away from the framed map. Looks ridiculous when watching my map wall, almost epilepsy inducing because of all the flickering.
Drivers: Catalyst 13.1
Gfxcard: HD7950 3Gb

Comment by [Mojang] Grum (Erik Broes) [ 19/Dec/12 ]

Actually the zfighting happens within the map itself, not with the frame, maybe we can do something about it.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 18/Dec/12 ]

Here: AMD Catalyst™ Display Driver for Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8 64-bit Version 12.10 (latest)
Graphics card is a Radeon HD 6700

May I interpret your comment as WontFix ?

Comment by [Mojang] Grum (Erik Broes) [ 18/Dec/12 ]

I think the real issue is substandard videocard drivers. I can't really do much about that. If the drivers do not see the difference between 0 and 3f/256 .. well ...

still here. also got better screenshots of it

Comment by Josh Miller [ 08/Dec/12 ]

Still there in 1.4.5

Comment by Sid Ben [ 08/Nov/12 ]

Just checked in 1.4.4, bug still there. Not so hard as before, you have to look at the map at very specific angles to get the z-fighting.

Just to add my 2c, i'd also love to see some more guidelines as to how things should run here so ensure some more consistency, although so far I think its going pretty well

Comment by Do [ 04/Nov/12 ]

The only written guidelines we have right now, AFAIK, are here; they're targeted more at non-technical users. Communication between mods and developers mostly happens on IRC (I actually suggested a Meta-Jira as well, but it was decided against for now).

Anyway, I agree that there should be some way for everyone to communicate outside of the tracker; this is mostly a community effort after all. I'll run it by some of the other mods and see what we can come up with...

Comment by Kumasasa [ 04/Nov/12 ]

@Do: Ok, thanks for clarifying. F'Up: Are there (yet) some basic rules written down how to handle with such issues, or is there a Meta-Jira or some kind of forum for discusing things like that ?

Comment by Do [ 04/Nov/12 ]

Cloning is probably the best way to handle it... you could also try to get a mod to reopen it, but there isn't really a great way of contacting mods right now. Cloning also draws more attention to it than reopening would, I think. It's probably not a bad thing for regressions like this to stand out a bit more (assuming people use cloning responsibly, of course).

Comment by Kumasasa [ 04/Nov/12 ]

I cloned that issue, because I don't know any other way to handle already fixed-closed, but not fixed issues. @Mods: Any other way to handle ?

Comment by Kumasasa [ 04/Nov/12 ]

Not fixed in 1.4.3 (pre)
