I can confirm this on Windows XP. I can't tell you how to reproduce this but it happens to me every few days. The solution is to press and release Ctrl once. This will change the "stuck" state of the modifier key. |

Same on windows 7 64 bit. Very annoying. Other symptoms is inability to just pick up items, it sends to hotbar or back into general inventory, sometimes can't stop running/walking, so on. |

It can be fixed by pressing cmd, alt and control for just a second. |

I also had this problem on my MBP running mountain lion but i'm not sure what triggered it. |

I've also experienced this on my MacBook Pro, Minecraft 1.4.2, Java 1.6.0_37 (64 bit), OS 10.7.5. I was editing text in a command block, and pressing left and right arrow keys would skip by word instead of by letter. I tried also holding control, option, and command, with no change. |

I think this is caused by one of your modifier keys being stuck. Try tapping shift/ctrl/alt next time this happens? This never happens to me on Windows (decently powered machine), but happens often to me on my Linux laptop (very low-end machine). |
