 Description

When you wear a skull (such as Wither Skeleton or Creeper), it is apparently supposed to be rendered under the hat layer of your skin. If your skin has pixels on the top of the hat, the Skull will clip through it, with a lot of Z fighting going on. This is visible on the inventory screen, in third person, and by other players in multiplayer.

Cannot confirm for 17w47a with startux's skin: https://namemc.com/skin/01c7a600a6ff2e5c

There is however z-fighting at the neck

No response for over a year.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue.

Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been deliviered.

Vote up this bug! Bugs with votes get fixed sooner! Just make it so that the head uses its own hat layer! Not the hat layer of the player.

Confirmed, very annoying on maps that require mob heads to play properly, such as Sethbling's Super Smash Bros.
Removing the hat layer on your skin is a temporary solution, but I can't use it, because my skin looks really weird then.

Confirmed in all snapshots and versions that contain mob heads up until 13w09a.

Just make it so that if the head has a hat layer, use that. Otherwise, just remove the player's hat layer

Confirmed in 1.4.5.

Corrected. Thank you.

Can Confirm, Correction Though, There Is No Way One Can See Their Skin Using The Menu Screen Alone, So I Would Assume You Mean Inventory Screen.
