 Description

Removed the torches from a Zombie spawner in an SMP server, and the spawner just disappeared. The torches were placed on all four sides of the spawner itself. Did this with two different Zombie spawners and it happened on both.

Edit: According to YouTube user gamemaster676 (see the linked comment under the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8blg0dH-PE&lc=G7Zr3W8Kk1Y0235siukOjqPd8o8plU8q4x8Dcj5tNk4), this also happened to him with an obsidian block when he removed a torch placed on that block.

This is fixed in 1.4.4

This was a common and significant problem in 1.4.2 SMP. Happened with most blocks and what was attached to them. Redstone, repeaters, redstone torches, torches, and crops would all break the block they were attached too when you broken them.

I'm the gamemaster676 he was talking about. I have used a skeleton spawner to make a xp grinder, and I made the walls out of obsidian. To prevent monsters from spawning while I was working I placed a lot of torches on the walls, but everytime I removed them to test, one (and the same) obsidian block kept disappearing while I hit the torch with my fist.
The block didn't break but was just gone.

This was happening on a SMP server without plugins or mods on my side.
