 Description

Regular mob spawners sometimes show up as pig spawners. (I'm currently looking at a spinning pig in a blaze spawner.) I'm playing on a SMP server.

Is this possibly a similar bug to the now fixed empty signs bug, where the tile entity or other extra data was sent to the client before the block data itself? [/speculation]

@Bergovoy: Please attach screenshots with debug screen (F3) enabled.

Please force a crash by pressing F3 + C for 10 seconds while in-game and attach the crash report (minecraft/crash-reports/crash-<DATE>-client.txt) to this ticket.

this is still occurring in my console, when someone else is looking at it, and then I went to his server/console, and I saw pigs in his spawners...

is this still a problem? the report indicates the issue is resolved, but it clearly isnt

thanks

I have not encontered this problem myself, so I'm guessing this is fixed. If there is evidence that this still happens this can be reopened.

I haven't seen it since I took this screenshot. But like I said earlier, it did or does happen very rarely, so I really don't know if it still exists. Maybe someone at Mojang knows if they have fixed or changed something (related?) that could cause this? Or if someone else has seen this recently. I guess they haven't directly fixed this issue since it has not been closed as "fixed"?

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

Yes this issue is still in the latest versions.
It seems like this is a client side issue.

Since event with sending the update packet (132TileEntityUpdate) the mob doesn't change.
(Client doesn't handle the packet right?)
See here e.g. the bukkit ticket -> https://bukkit.atlassian.net/browse/BUKKIT-2630

I don't know atm. I haven't been around spawners much lately, and it does or did happen quite rarely. It most likely requires either going far away from the spawner to unload the chunk and then go back to it, or log out and back in to sometime trigger the bug. Or that is what I would assume anyway. I might try to reproduce it on my SMP server (running the released versions, so 1.4.4) soon-ish.

Is this still an issue in 1.4.4/1.4.5?

Comment by Jordan Marsden [ 03/Nov/12 ]

Yes I believe this is in multilayer only? - I have experienced the issue myself and found the spawner's
do not spawn pigs they spawn the previous animal, and sometimes they don't spawn any thing at all!
