 Description

When I play creative or survival, villagers don't repopulate when either a zombie kills them or I do. I don't know if this happens on multiplayer or not but it does in singleplayer.

All depends on the number of valid doors in a village. More information can be found here..

This has been happening to me as well. I have been actively playing Minecraft for the past few months and in my main survival world I live in a village and rarely leave it, however I have not seen a single child villager or a child zombie villager EVER, and I was really looking forward to those. I have created a world and all the villagers have died in accidents like a zombie catching one of them while I'm away and the iron golem is in the other side of the village (another issue - I have never seen an iron golem spawn in a village even if they're massive), and one by one they have all died Then when 1.4 came out I thought maybe this has been fixed, so I have re-created the world and started to live in the exact same village as before. I have made another iron golem, but still one by one they have all died
I really want to see this issue fixed as it is really discouraging from starting a new adventure in Minecraft :'(

And of course zombies will break down doors in the village, which means they need replacing to boost the population again.

The doors also have to be "valid," which is calculated by doors with sunlight on one side and none on the other. Again, there's also the 3 doors to a villager calculation that I've heard of.

In my experience villages normally spawn with more population that they have the number of doors to for.

You need approximately three doors for every villagers, when you exceed that number more villagers will breed. With most spawned buildings that's three buildings per villager, a mechanic on some level they didn't think made sense because villagers spawn in larger numbers than that.

Note that you can add multiple doors per building.

Well it was in a regular village so I dont see why there wouldnt be

Was there enough doors to support the population?
