| Description |
|
If you stand in front of TNT or Glowstone and then have it pushed into the player, they will remain inside of the TNT, causing caves and dungeons to become visible. |

Leaves should be altered slightly so that growing trees won't kill you! Perhaps instead of making these blocks(leaf blocks) suffocate you, make them push you out of the way when you are inside them(again at least for leaves from growing trees). |

|
Standing in those blocks now suffocates you. |

Moreover, how is it possible that a player trapped inside such a block will not choke? |

This was fixed in 1.6.4 (I think). But there is still a way to X-Ray. |

|
Still in 1.7.4. |

Howard, it isn't resolved completely. |

1.7.2 here and still seeing it with the Minecart + Redstone approach. Personally, I would not be sad to see this one stay in actually, I mostly play Single Player Survival and it's a useful little gimmick to shave valuable time off when looking for dungeons. However, I can see how this is highly abusable in a multiplayer environment so in case it does end up being fixed (finally), I would personally completely understand. |

I would suggest closing this issue, fixed in 1.7.2 as of the latest test. |

That is why I suggested that all blocks render both sides within 2 or 3 meters from head and make solid blocks have NO alpha. That would render all xray schemes useless. |

This is a completely vanilla bug thingy isn't it? |

Confirmed, unfortunately still suprisingly easy. Proof: http://youtu.be/Ft4fOregkj0 |

Reopening due to still being partially reproducible. |

it still works in 1.7.2.. 1) piston: just try it a few times, it will randomly work (didnt found the reason for this yet) 2) fence: instead of standing in the block where you will place your 'xray-block', push against the fences, place your blocks of choice by clicking against the fences and walk backwards into them. works every time |

Yup. Still present in 1.6.2. |

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

Well, people also use it to find other people's bases to take stuff or otherwise grief. It doesn't matter how well you hide your entrance if somebody can see any underground openings, 'ya know? But the whole chunks-loading-out-of-order bug also allows people to see through the ground into caves, so multiple things need to be changed to make hiding underground actually work in SMP. |

Ravines, Mineshafts, Caves, etc.* |

Yeah, I joined in 1.2.5 and I saw it in the Wiki. It doesn't really do anything to bother you it just helps to find ravines. The only problem is some servers have those xray finding plugins so by using this bug, you can easily get Banned. |

This was at least in 1.2.5. |

Hasn't this bug happened before 1.3? I saw it in the Wiki but I never bothered to try it. |
| Comment by George Gates [ 13/Mar/13 ] |

No, the x-ray issue happens when the camera is inside a block at all. It doesn't happen for sand, gravel, or a few other blocks because Notch originally coded special cases for those, so if your head was in one of those blocks the entire view would be blocked off (otherwise you could see through them too). Said checks/cases (if that's how it's still done) aren't in there for other blocks though. |
| Comment by WHOOPS [ 13/Mar/13 ] |
|
Its happen because... Glowstone and redstone block emits light... if there is literally 0 light you will die (gravel sufffocation, void suffocation) |

Disable transparency ONLY when block isn't supposed to have transparent parts. Like stone or wool block. Not leaves, grass, lily, and so on. That's what I mean by Solid block. |
| Comment by fuj1n (Arthur Uzulin) [ 25/Jan/13 ] |
|
@Rolf Redford Disabling transparency for any block is not desired, but the idea of getting the blocks around The Players face to render makes sense. |

Included Block of Redstone. |
| Comment by Rolf Redford [ 03/Nov/12 ] |

Easily solved by making blocks under certain distance from head render all sides, on both Normal and opposite Normal side. Shouldn't affect performance much. Maybe radius of just 2 meters. In fact, other kind of xray, using transparent textures can also be easily fixed. Disallow any transparency from textures when block is solid type. |

|
Works for any block that doesn't suffocate you but doesn't actually have transparency. |

Ditto for glowstone. Love this bug. |
