Shovels work on ice because using no tool is the right tool for that. Same counts for picks on grass |

This is not a bug, but a feature request, please post it in http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/1-suggestions/ |

If you use TMI's feature of enchanting, you can get Silk Touch on your sword and it would work but that would be cheating... |

There is 3 "levels" of tool usage. "Correct tool", "Wrong tool" and "no tool". I think shovel don't work on webs because it is "no tools" catalog for webs. Sword count as "Wrong tool" so 2 uses, BUT there's no such thing as silk touch for sword (or shears for that matter!) Would have to test it though. |

Using a Silk Touch shovel on ice works, why wouldn't using a silk touch shovel on web? As far as I know, the shovel is not the correct tool for either material. |

Ahh makes sense. Enchanted shears seems awesome to me. Prolong life, faster, and silk touch for webs. HMM As well as make flint and steel enchantabletoo , but only for life (or immortal tool at high enchant levels?) |

Swords can't have silk touch and shears can't be enchanted, so at the moment this is a feature request and not a bug report. |

Logically it should drop cobweb. |

This is a feature request not a bug and does not belong here |

I never understood why cobwebs can't be collected with silk touch, but that's the way Mojang designed it. |

Whether it's done through allowing Silk Touch on shears or spiders that occasionally leave cobwebs as they move about, or any of several other options, I don't care how it's implemented but I'd really like it if spider webs could appear in survival mode. I could then decorate the less-visited parts of my empire with the odd web. |

Using shears it drops string, but Seth says that it should drop cobweb item when you use Silk Touch. |

Have you tried using shears? |

|
Why not? I can see uses for spider webs. |

I could be mistaken, but it seems that, that is intended. I seem to remember in the update notes that silk touch would specifically not work on spider webs. All I could find is: No mentions of spider webs. |
