| Description |
|
The hitbox of a retracting piston is postitioned incorrectly. See attached screenshot. Just look at the piston while it is retracting and aim at the back part so the hitbox is visible. Ideally you connect it to a redstone clock or something similar so you don't have to flip levers. |

You're certainly right. Maybe should you rewrite the title? |

Gary, that's possible, but I'm pretty sure there is no real need or reason to display the hitbox of an otherwise invisible technical box to the player. The engine is certainly capable of removing or changing the hitbox for certain blocks. So I still think this is b bug and should be fixed. |

I begin to think that it works as intended because when a piston retracts itself, you don't see its own hitbox, but the "piston_extension" hitbox. This technical block is necessary for the proper functioning of the piston, and I doubt that its hitbox can be removed. Here's a picture which illustrates my point. |

Confirmed in 14w18b (plus: the connection part of the front and the piston body sticks through the piston body if you create a Redstone block and piston clock) |

The piston hitbox can now sometimes be seen partially in front of it, offset by the width of piston head. Piston head hitbox can appear offset likewise, and it also may appear behind the piston. |

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w03b? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

May I ask, what's the official name of "hitbox"? |

You should've added that portion to this issue's description. |

Just by looking at the piston while it is retracting and aiming at the back part so the hitbox is visible. Ideally you connect it to a redstone clock or something similar so you don't have to flip levers or something. Apart from the visually incorrect hitbox, I assume some bugs like falling through pistons while they are retracting are caused by this. |
