The opposite issues being reported are MC-26334 and MC-96861, and MC-26334 has been reopened, my friend reported MC-96861, which turned out to be a duplicate eventually.

I actually figured out that this makes absolutely no sense for a GUI window to exit when the Player dies, because it's an intended feature in the Minecraft Pocket edition, and Minecraft Console edition.
Edit: I did some math and found an equal number of people voting for and against this issue.

The Confirmation Status is already Confirmed, this is one step higher as "Community Consensus".
But again, this issue is fixed, there is no need to update anything.

Comment by The Papa [ 29/Feb/16 ]

This issues' Confirmation Status should be Community Consensus, because seeing the comments and reading and testing the issue, it is debatable about this issue.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 28/Feb/16 ]

Here is nothing to resolve as WaI, this issue was fixed. Simple thing.

Comment by Bren Rado [ 28/Feb/16 ]

Please resolve this as 'Works As Intended,' because you lose your message that you were typing in the chat.
Edit: This bug is also questionable, because one of the moderators are asking what the bug really is, and besides, there was no response to that question, so this would be resolved as an 'Awaiting Response.'

Seems fixed for 15w31a, however as many people said the fact that the chat stayed open for "emergency" commands was very useful.

Comment by Menawir [ 16/May/15 ]

Confirmed in 1.8.4. When keepInventory is enabled you still have access to your items after dying, if you die with your inventory open. This allows you to craft and drop items while dead, which allows you to trigger wooden (or weighted) pressure plates.

Comment by KingSupernova [ 17/Mar/15 ]

Confirmed in 1.8.3. Leaving the chat open is intended, so you don't lose your message or so you have a chance to type a command. The inventory part however, is almost certainly a bug. I see no reason for it to exist, as you would drop your items anyways. Perhaps these should be split into separate reports?

Comment by Marcono1234 [ 29/Jul/14 ]

Confirmed for

  • 14w30c
  • 14w31a
  • Minecraft 1.8-pre 1
  • 1.8.3 like KingSupernova says, it is definitely not intended that the inventory stays open or you shouldn't be able to interact with it, because when you have /gamerule keepInventory true you can throw the items at the place where you died
Comment by Jesper the End [ 05/Jul/13 ]

ok, now let's say this isn't the case. Imagine someone set your spawnpoint on 0 -400 0 just to troll. You won't be able to teleport back up or set a new spawnpoint in time. so please just resolve this as 'works as intended'

Comment by Jesper the End [ 01/Mar/13 ]

I think this works as intended, at least I hope so, because it's really annoying to lose your message after dying

Comment by Kumasasa [ 27/Jan/13 ]

Confirmed, but where is the bug ?

Comment by TMCplays [ 07/Nov/12 ]

This happens during all death events when the chat is open, and you can close the chat to get to the death screen...
