 Description

Potato glitch

What I expected to happen was the potato to grow normally after being planted without a water block(which is how wheat, pumpkin stems, and melon stems act.)

What actually happened was potato uprooted after a few seconds. It acted just like a tilled dirt block with no water near enough to it for it to get hydrated

Steps to Reproduce:
1. till dirt, making sure it isn't with-in 4 blocks of a water block(flowing or not)
2. plant potato on the tilled soil
3. after a random time, the crop should uproot

Its still happening on some tiles under Linux, under Minecraft 1.4.5- the blocks are hydrated too.

To go with my comment.

This just started happening for me too, though it is slightly different. The potato or carrot will still uproot after a few seconds, but will pop out instantly if there is another crop planted beside it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Till a soil block beside a water block
2. place a carrot in the tilled soil
3. plant a second carrot in a tilled soil block beside it
4. the carrot will instantly uproot.
5. alternatively, plant them more than a block apart, and they will stay in for a few minutes, then pop out.

*Edit: Just checked, and the same thing is happening with wheat and anything else placed in tilled soils. Attached a screenshot to better demonstrate?
