Since they added mushrooms,the game has allowed you to plant them on almost every single block in the game, but since then, you can only plant them on mycelium. Can you please restore it to their original state, we'd really appreciate it! |

To elaborate on what Aaron Mills said, mushrooms can be planted on any? block, as long as the light level in that space is below 13, and it's not open to the sky. However, the lighting rules do not apply if the mushroom is planted on mycelium – the light level or sky visibility does not affect mushrooms planted on mycelium. |

You can plant them on other surfaces, you just need to be wary of the light level once planting. The exception to this, of course, is mycelium. |

You can plant mushrooms in water. Put water on a block where you want mushroom and then quickly put in water the mushroom (but you cannot grow the mushroom with bonemeal) |
