 Description

On a lengthy minecart journey, the minecart sound started to glitch, as if it was just playing a tiny split second of the sound over and over.

Confirmed in 15w51b

If you want the snapshot, see this.

Comment by Cassian Lodge [ 27/Feb/13 ]

Thank you for taking the time to explain that. I had no idea that's how it works. I'm looking forward to the update.

Comment by [Mojang] Nathan Adams [ 27/Feb/13 ]

It means that snapshot was made public on that date. Snapshots are weekly development builds we give out, but aren't pushed to all users because they can be unstable. The full release of 1.5, which includes the changes made in the snapshots and this bugfix, will be released within a week - see www.mojang.com for more information.

Comment by Cassian Lodge [ 27/Feb/13 ]

Ahhh! That makes sense now. Thank you. The snapshot page (https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC/fixforversion/10802) says it's due on 10th Jan 2013, which is over a month ago. It would be good to know an ETA, but as long as it's being fixed then I'm happy. Thanks again.

Comment by [Mojang] Nathan Adams [ 27/Feb/13 ]

This issue is marked as fixed for a snapshot, which is not yet released.

Comment by Cassian Lodge [ 27/Feb/13 ]

He's using 1.4.7.

Comment by Tails [ 27/Feb/13 ]

Which version of Minecraft are you using?

Comment by Cassian Lodge [ 27/Feb/13 ]

This issue is not fixed. I am commenting for a friend, and he's using Windows 64-bit, Minecraft multiplayer survival. The issue is so far exactly as described above. We've experienced this problem several times today.

Is there a new open/unresolved bug report page I should go to, or is this the place to comment?

Comment by Kumasasa [ 28/Jan/13 ]

@Frank Furter: This issue is fixed - see in the detail section at the top of the page.

Comment by Frank Furter [ 28/Jan/13 ]

I experience this on a regular basis on my OSX installs (Mountain Lion, Minecraft 1.4.7). Is this supposed to be resolved? As other noticed, it only happens on long rides and when you're in the cart.

THANK YOU!

woooo! thanks dinnerbone

Comment by Richard Cox [ 07/Jan/13 ]

@Maarten: It seems your comment worked

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 07/Jan/13 ]

guys seriously, update the affected version or this bug wil never be fixed
mustek, can you change the affected versions?

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 05/Jan/13 ]

still in the snapshotA+B. please update affected versions

Comment by Lord Glorp [ 30/Dec/12 ]

Will someone PLEASE escalate this issue to be assigned? Minecarts have seemingly been broken in multiplayer since 1.4.3 and have not been fixed as of the 1.4.7 pre-release as noted within this ticket.

Seriously folks, this should have been resolved long ago and I've had frustrated players on our server complain about the hours they've invested in cart infrastructure only for it to be botched since 1.4.3

It is not unreasonable to ask for a long standing bug to be resolved in a PAID FOR product.

Thanks.

Comment by Ville Selkämaa [ 28/Dec/12 ]

Happens in 1.4.7 pre-relase too

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 28/Dec/12 ]

I have mainly seen this in multiplayer, but I have also seen it in singleplayer.

Comment by Mehmet Baran [ 28/Dec/12 ]

This is very annoying. Its not resolved in 1.4.6.

Comment by Big Gray Golem [ 27/Dec/12 ]

Confirmed since 1.4.x. Last update fixed the visual glitching, but the audio and related lag spikes are still present.

Comment by Eric Goulet [ 26/Dec/12 ]

Not only does this affect Windows 64 bit and OSX, it affects Linux 64 bit environments as well.

I experience this on Vanilla and MCPatch'd Minecraft and only with minecarts. The visual issues have been resolved, but sound remains the same. It happens at all speeds - The faster I got, the more intense it becomes.

Comment by Anon Ymus [ 21/Dec/12 ]

Also confirmed in 1.4.6.

Comment by bumpy ride [ 21/Dec/12 ]

I can confirm the glitch on 1.4.6 also. I've noticed it happens when approaching a built-up area. Sound returns to normal on long runs between stops for me. Built-up area can be a mine, village, or minecart terminal.

Comment by Alan Zeman [ 20/Dec/12 ]

I can also confirm the sound glitches are present is 1.4.6.

Comment by default [ 20/Dec/12 ]

Just upgraded to 1.4.6 and went straight onto a minecart, the cart jittering has been fixed (another bug) BUT oh my goodness, sound glitches are JUST THE SAME!! I've noticed that the sound sometimes corrects itself, and then starts glitching again always at the same point on a particular minecart track. Strange.

Comment by Alan Zeman [ 14/Dec/12 ]

The bug is present in 12w50a. It is also present in Windows 64 bit as well.

Comment by Maarten Thijs [ 08/Dec/12 ]

I made a video https://www.dropbox.com/s/55kayin2m7m90io/2012-12-08%2017.54.47.mp4

yes I know this video was made in 1.4.5 but the bug is still present in 12w49a

Comment by Ichiro Furusato [ 21/Nov/12 ]

Can confirm on 1.4.5 release on Ubuntu linux 12.04 LTS, Java HotSpot 1.6.0_34 64 bit VM, as well as HotSpot 1.7.0_07 64 bit, single player survival.

This only occurs while riding the minecart. The sound is a machine gun sound that increases in frequency as the cart speeds up. Not sure if this is a separate bug, but the cart animation itself vibrates quite violently, almost a blur. This on a long straight track.

Interestingly, if I hit Escape and exit to the game menu the sound continues in the background, and the cart sounds normal (or what I believe should be normal). As soon as I return to the game, the rat-tat-tat returns.

Comment by Michael Smith [ 19/Nov/12 ]

I can confirm George Weller's claim as I run on OSX as well (Lion)

Comment by George Weller [ 19/Nov/12 ]

I'm having this issue too in the OSX build of 1.4.4, on multiplayer survival.

Comment by Richard Cox [ 16/Nov/12 ]

Confirmed in 1.4.5 pre-release.

Comment by James Roberts [ 14/Nov/12 ]

I've had the same problem testing rails. It only seems to glitch when the player rides the minecart. If he doesn't ride, the glitch doesn't start. Version 1.4.4.

Comment by Richard Cox [ 09/Nov/12 ]

Continues in 1.4.4.

Comment by Kumasasa [ 07/Nov/12 ]

The choppy sound is observed since 1.4.3, see also MC-1377

Comment by Richard Cox [ 01/Nov/12 ]

I've had this as well.

The sound does stop when the cart stops.

(With music off.)
