The coordinates don't show the strongholds in 15w31a, but you are below a mineshaft. |

Would it be such a bad bug? Makes them look cooler in my opinion. |

Could somebody provide an updated seed and set of coordinates for this issue occurring via worldgen strongholds, if they still see it happening? The ones in the description no longer match due to world gen changes since the original post's version. |

The issue is about doors in strongholds being generated in the open position, not which side the hinge is on. |

If you place a door in the 2 high space anywhere while facing the side then it places and works the opposite to a normal door |

I don't see why they should fix this. I think having some doors randomly jammed open until someone comes along and interacts with them adds to the atmosphere of the strongholds. Maybe there was an earthquake that activated the button and some debris got lodged in the mechanism and by pushing the button you cause it to dislodge. Maybe a yet unknown monster could have forced the iron doors open (without breaking them the way Zombies do with wooden doors)... wouldn't that be frightening?! From a technical perspective, it is possible to place iron doors in the open state using the setblock command. Each door facing has an open and closed datavalue. I have attached screenshots of myself placing an iron door in the open state with the setblock command. (I placed the door before taking the screenshots.) Given this information it is conceivable that iron doors generating in the open position within strongholds could be working as intended. It should also be noted that wood doors will exhibit the same behavior described if you manually open them and then apply a redstone signal. |

I don't see why they can't fix this, doors face the right way in villages… |

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version 1.6.4 / Launcher version 1.2.5 ? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

I think this is normal for minecraft |

IIRC, the doors are just all placed in the same direction, regardless of the direction of the wall they are embedded in. |

I would think that the iron doors are being placed in the world facing the wrong direction. |

This is a seemingly random mechanic and can be achieved by intent. As for the formation of these structures, abandoned mineshafts consist of: ◾A starting point - a large room with a flat dirt floor, an arched ceiling and up to four exits (one in each direction). The generator continues to add pieces onto an exit until it reaches a "depth" of 8 (eight pieces from an exit). Source: Minecraft Wiki |

I think this may be intended |

dont think this qualifies as a bug its just how the generator made it, example desert temples underground or my fav a jungle temple hanging mid air over a massive sinkhole. Ive seen this always since Ive been playing MC. Are there static models of these structures? I was always under the impression its just basically quasi-random placement of sub-chunks following a 'life' style generator. |
