The instructions are a bit unclear. For example: Should I open the copied map (stack of 2) before switching to the other one? And can the other one be of the same area? And should I create it when switching to it or should it be pre-created? |

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. If this has been done, we can reopen the issue. Keep in mind that the "Resolved"-Status on this ticket just means "Answered", and that we are waiting for further information on whether this issue still exists or not. We will reopen it as soon as the requested information has been deliviered. |

Same thing happened to me when scaling a map in 1.6.4. Just like Poker Chen When I restarted Minecraft, all 3 maps were back to normal. It would be nice if the number stayed the same when scaling maps. It's better to have maps #0,#1,#2... instead of #3,#7,#11... |

Yes, i created a map in 1.6.2 with another map in my inventory, and my old map went blank. |

Thankfully, the next time I played, the map repainted the explored areas. |

When I played two of my worlds in 1.6 that I haven't played since 1.5, all the maps that I had drawn returned to normal. I haven't tested if drawing a new map (or exploring new areas on an existing map) will cause the rest to turn blank again. I might try it out, since I don't really care for the maps anymore. |

I've had a map blank on me in 1.6.2. And just like Poker Chen commented, I noticed that the new map I was creating briefly had the same map # (#3) as a previously created map and then switched to a new # (#7). After this, map #3 was blank. |

This has been happening to me ever since I got Minecraft (soon after 1.5 came out) in both singleplayer and multiplayer. In the first world I made, it took a few maps before the earlier maps I made started to turn blank. But since then, whenever I draw another map the previous map I made goes blank. I also noticed that sometimes a few pixels return, but then it stops drawing. I have a screenshot of what a map looks like the last time it happened, on my server in the current version (1.5.2). I'm going to attach it to this. |

Since the latest version I don't have any problem with it anymore. |

I have the same problem: created a map, then zoomed out 2 times. After creating another map + 2 zooms in the new one, the contents of the first map disappeared. @Christophe |

Confirming. It seems that while the map is blanked out, you can still explore new chunks that have not yet been revealed. In other words, if the map that disappears hasn't been fully explored, only the explored bits get blanked, but you can still uncover the parts that has never been recorded in that map. This results in what looks like a blank cloud hanging over only the old bits. In order to recreate this observation: do up a far zoom map, explore it somewhat, and create new maps until it blanks. ( I'm trying to make a 3x3 wall frame of zoom level 2 maps that shows in detail my level 3 and level 4 maps. It seems that when creating a map, it is initially assigned a number corresponding to a map that already exists thus blanking out that map. After a second or two, the map number updates to the expected. |

This bug also exists in the 13w03a snapshot, except it appears you are only allowed to have 17 maps saved at a time before it erases the primary maps you started with in sequential order. |
