 Description

relates to:

https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-1677

https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-5726

If rails are being pushed off a ledge, by player spamming rails onto the first free block infront of the retracted phase of a fast firing piston, (either a piston, or a block it is pushing), they are able to extend out over air (2013-03-08_22.32.39.png), but are not functional, minecarts fall through them as if the track weren't present (all rail types tried.) Occasionally, the first rail over an air block will break but keep pushing other sections out (2013-03-08_22.39.04.png).

Yes those are ghost blocks, created by using MC-631 glitch. Fixing MC-631 will fix this automagically.

this is not the block duplication issue either. Each placed rail is removed from inventory, and can be collected later. They're just a.) allowed to be pushed out over air blocks, and b.)not functional* while over air. (and under some circumstances I haven't pinned down, the pushed rails are not functional on land either)

*by functional I mean they'll neither link to existing rails or carry a minecart.

Typo sorry.

Comment by Andrew Whitaker [ 12/Mar/13 ]

MC-661 is a version of the floating torch bug marked unconfirmed, as well as a duplicate of a bug https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-2512 that was resolved in Snapshot 13w06a. This has been confirmed in 1.5 pre-release. (while the torches on the one lamp post I've seen in that version were not floating.)

Duplicate of MC-631.
