 Description

The Bug:

Sleeping players have very small hitboxes.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Get two players and label them "Player A" and "Player B".
  2. Have "Player A" enable entity hitboxes by pressing "F3 + B".
  3. Get "Player B" to place down a bed and begin sleeping in it.
  4. Get "Player A" to look closely at the hitbox of the sleeping player.
  5. Take note as to whether or not sleeping players have very small hitboxes.

Observed Behavior:

The hitbox of sleeping players is very small and is positioned around their heads.

Expected Behavior:

The hitbox would be made larger to cover the whole player model.

I'd like to bring recognition to the unmatched commitment put forth by @Avoma, and acknowledge that it is time to pass on the torch to a new generation of Minecrafters in hopes that they can bring closure upon our bedded hitboxes. May this herein be acknowledged as a formal request to bestow this issue, and all the responsibilities thereof, unto our unsung hero for the betterment of our community in the times to come

Relates to MC-100008.

Can still reproduce. Melee attacks and arrows only damage sleeping players if they hit the head, and sleeping players are still invisible when on the edge of the screen.

Hi there!

Is this still an issue in the latest release/snapshot? If so, please add a comment to this ticket/update the affected versions.

Comment by Kraif [ 30/Aug/18 ]

Comment by Fabian Röling [ 15/Oct/16 ]

Does this still occur in the current version?

Comment by Emoluvjd2 [ 11/Feb/16 ]

Has this issue been fixed? I know they fixed MC-1058, but the cause of that was unrelated to this.

I thought this was a question brought up at one of the minecon confrences and it was said this was an unintentional but fortunate item as it keeps people from being killed by other players on SMP servers (griefed) and thats why they never addressed it. I could be wrong and be thinking of a different conference (which the mojang guys may not have attended).

Comment by Matteo Rainer [ 23/Jun/13 ]

it still concerns all minecraft versions (also the new snapshots) !

Comment by Ben Woodworth [ 07/Apr/13 ]

Updated (It's still a problem)

Comment by Kumasasa [ 04/Mar/13 ]

The disappearing player is caused by MC-1058
