 Description

I would be playing on a server with my friends over Skype, and my character would stop in its tracks. While it appears I am moving on my client, my friends would say that I was standing still. They would punch into what I would see as air and then I would get hurt.

I think I should also mention that eating, using potions doesn't effect my character and footsteps from walking can't be heard in-game when this bug takes effect.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.

I know I am not the Reporter, but I have experienced this issue. I know for a fact that it is a latency issue, but in 1.2, Minecraft would warp you back to your actual location and would not stop until the latency went away enough for you to move. This is different behavior, you completely lose contact with your server character and may "free roam" with your client character. I want Minecraft to have ways to fix this when it happens. If we warp back all of the time, sobeit, we are still connected to our server characters.

This seems like a latency issue (your connection to the server being bad). Can you confirm your pings when this happens?
Click the start menu and select 'Run' type 'cmd' and hit enter. at the prompt type 'ping <servername/ip>' a respectable ping is about 100 ms or less, more could cause these issues, as well as packet loss.

This bug is very irritating to me. It happens all the time, so much that I can't really play Minecraft anymore on SMP.
This is a big problem, synchronization issues. This used to not be a problem, because in 1.2, the client changed the position of the client's character to the server character every second. This is why you would sometimes not be able to move in 1.2, you did de-sync, but because of the constant warping, you would, after a few seconds, re-sync. This warping behavior appears to have been removed in 1.3, which creates this problem.

Please spend a little bit of time to detect and resolve de-synchronization, it is very annoying.
