If you place a hopper facing sideways into a block and put an item in it, then remove the block and place another hopper facing towards the first, the item will NOT bounce back and forth between the hoppers as it should until the first hopper is re-placed. |

Confirmed. Note that even a correctly functioning setup does not turn on the second comparator because the item is only in that hopper for an instant. |
