| Description |

Take a look at the fps while you're aiming with an enchanted bow. The fps will drop so much that make the game so annoying. Also, when you're looking nearly at an enchanted item, it does the same thing. Take a look at the screens. |

Oh thank god. That was annoying On Sun, Aug 31, 2014 at 10:11 AM, [Mod] Kumasasa (JIRA) <bugs@mojang.com> > [Mod] Kumasasa |

Possibly fixed in recent snapshots. |

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 1.8-pre2? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

Confirmed in 14w08a. Note that this bug does not seem to affect my laptop with Intel HD 3000 Graphics. I personally have only seen it on NVIDIA and AMD graphics. |

A good way of testing this, is to hold an enchanted item like a pick, sword or bow, then stand next to a wall or atleast close to it. Press your change perspective key (F5) to look in 3rd person towards yourself, then aim so that your view goes into the enchanted item. |

Yea i dont know why but I think this is an Open GL issue that we are currently expirencing... However there is a fix for this in 1.6.4 called Fps + mod that fixes the freeze and lag issue Sent from my iPhone |

This is happening to me still in 1.7.4. It doesn't just drop my frames, it just totally can freeze my client. Specs: I can provide more details if needed. |

Still present in 1.7.4 prerelease. |

Still present in 1.7.3 pre-release. I'm usually at 30fps and I drop to 20 when I select an enchanted sword or potion. |

Probably graphics card related. |

I was using that driver (307.83) when I made the crash report, and when recording the video. |

@Jono OpenGL: Quadro NVS 140M/PCIe/SSE2 GL version 3.3.0, NVIDIA Corporation Please try with the latest driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-notebook-winxp-x32-307.83-whql-driver.html or http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro-certified-drivers.html (don't know anything about nvidia Quadro NVS...) |

I can still confirm this in 1.6.2, as of July 31. And, I've also created a video to show the problem. I feel that screenshots don't really show this bug well. |

Odd, because even if you set the enchanted_item_glint.png to be a transparent texture, it will still cause an FPS drop when holding/using it. Very strange, hope this gets fixed soon. |

Confirmed in 1.6.2. Charging with a regular bow (not enchanted) does not alter FPS significantly. |

This is an extremely annoying problem, as it interferes with so much of the gameplay, especially on PvP servers when it is vital to get the aim correct, but lag gets in the way of that. |

@Brutally It sounds like you installed the file correctly, I have heard in some cases the file doesn't make an effect on the game. I'll try to figure it out. |

@Trent Try deleting your META-INF folder from your minecraf.jar. This may help. |

That temp fix would make me incredibly happy, but it crashes my Minecraft. The Mojang loading screen flashes and then I black-screen. |

@Jesse Cumbia How do you install that file? I droped it in my jar file like he said on the thread, but its not taking effect and removing the glint. |

Yeah, it seems even worse in 1.6.2. A friend sent me some .class files that removed the enchanted glow from all items. Thread: https://oc.tc/forums/topics/51dc4a56ba6087ea1100252b Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?d6hg9b08a467z5c This should remove the glow which causes most of the lag. It's a quick fix until this bug can be fixed. Hope this help, ~ MC_L_S |

Currently in 1.6.2. Charging an enchanted bow was not an issue for me in 1.5.2, although I did have optifine installed. I'm slightly confused because of reports that people installed optifine as an attempt to fix this, but optifine did not help the matter in their cases. Right now in 1.6.2, I do not have optifine currently installed (1.6.2 version not available yet). Due to much evidence from others, I am assuming that once a new version of optifine is released and I install it, it will not fix the lag I get from charging an enchanted bow. In a world I will run at a steady 30 fps, but once I pull back my enchanted bow, I drop to an fps ranging anywhere from 8-14. This is a major problem, and in my case, literally makes using an un-enchanted bow more effective than a "super bow" (i.e. Power 5, Flame 2, Punch 2, etc.) or any other enchanted bow for that matter. Obviously, the people who experience this lag from enchanted bows are at a huge disadvantage to the other players who can use very powerful bows without lag, which allows them to maintain accuracy and land shots on enemies. Accuracy with a bow is extremely difficult and sporadic when Minecraft runs below 15 fps. |

Yup, Still a problem in 1.6.1, It's making a large portion of the game Un-playable. |

Playing 1.6.1 today... I got right in the face of a skeleton who happened to have an enchanted bow and the frame rate dropped very quickly. |

|
Very annoying... I'm not more able to play bow fights with enchanted ones... I've also noticed that the "glint" will affect the "in-deep" pixels of an item (I'm not english and very bad with it). And this effect was applied in 1.5, I think, I can't remember. |

Confirmed in 13w25c. |

I still get this problem, I also have tried removing the glint effect from my textures, its with any enchanted item! |

|
Still a problem in 1.5.2, I'd like for this to get more attention, it's crippling a major aspect of the game for some people. My FPS drops from ~60 to <15. |

I am still getting this problem, anyway to fix? |

This also happens with Potions. Anything with the glint effect surrounding it seems to have this problem. |
