If this is a feature, I don't know why. If you get hit by a skeleton/other mob by your sitting cats, they will stand up till the monster is killed. I don't know why the cats would stand up. It's not like they chase the monster away. Sidenote: I can push my cat into a wall and it will suffocate and die. I have just lost 8 cats in the last 10 minutes because of this. It happens also when they grow up. |

Problem as of 1.7.9. Since cats do not attack mobs, it is not only pointless for them to stand-up when attacked, it is also disruptive as pets often come between a mob and the player's sword every now and then and resulting in the player unintentionally killing his/her pets. This is particularly frustrating with respect to cats which do not do anything in combat and constitutes a disincentive to use pets. |

Still occurs in 14w11b, I think it's because the cats take some of the dogs' behavior. When you take damage, a dog stands up and fights. With a cat, it has no attack, so it just stands up. |

Is this still a concern in the latest Minecraft version 14w08a? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases. |

This is not the case. The cats will stand up when you get hit by a mob and then not sit down till the mob dies. |

This is probably related to Unable to confirm if this is still happening in current release or not since I'm only doing speed-runs. |

Sitting cats teleport to me in 1.6.2 single-player survival. It does not seem to involve my being hit by a mob. I have seen both short (10-20 blocks) and very long (500+ blocks) teleports. The cats are sitting when they arrive but can be stood up normally. It happens every few days. If I have multiple cats, usually only one teleports at a time. |

Having this trouble as well. It seems cats just randomly like to stand up and teleport and then you cant sit them back down. Relogging solves the issue. It would be appreciated if you made a bug report for it. This was happening to me on my 1.6.2 server. |

Not sure if this is a different issue, as I did get hit and my cats did...well...teleport. So how is my house set up? The cats are in a stonebrick room, about 8x3* blocks, with wooden planks as floor and ceiling (room is 3* blocks tall) and a door in one of the 3x3 walls. No pressure plate. I tried to sleep, but monsters were near, so I went to hunt them; got hit at least once in the process; still failing to sleep I go to the cellar and I could sleep in my bed in there. I went back upstairs, and saw one of my cats (I kind of neglect them; never fed them). After having 3 in the room, relogging as I couldnt make them sit, which fixed THAT issue, I made them sit and counted 4 out of 5. Turns out one cat randomly teleported to a chest in the cellar and went to sit. Now I knew I might've needed a fish, but I could make it stand without fish, and well...eventually I had them all back in their room. TL;DR: My cats teleport away from their place while commanded to sit at all times, and it required me to relog once to make them sit. (relog as in back to title and back into the save)** *walls and ceiling not included Edit: version 1.6.2 |

It seems to be even worse now when they teleport if something hit you recently. |

Some times my friend will dumb water on my cat so it teleports to me but sometimes I get more than one cat. I got 3 once. It might be a dupe. |

This also happens from a distance. My friend hit me a few hundred blocks away and a cat teleported. Hit me again and another cat came. |
