 Description

Summary

When joining a BDS server with whitelist enabled, but for which you are not on the whitelist, the client to get stuck on "Loading Resources" rather than providing the player with feedback that they are not whitelisted.

Steps to reproduce...

  1. Download and extract BDS
  2. Modify the server.properties file to enable the whitelist (white-list=true)
  3. Start the server and attempt to connect (without whitelisting yourself)
  4. Note that you get stuck on "Loading Resources"

What I expected to happen...

In prior versions (I dont know when it broke) the client would get a message indicating they are not whitelisted.

What actually happens...

The client stalls on "Loading Resources" which in this case amounts to a soft lock as it is not possible to get back to the menu without force closing the game.

Resolving this as CR as we can no longer reproduce this bug.

If this is still an issue please remake the bug report and include detailed reproduction steps, as well as a video showcasing the bug.

This happens also if youre banned on the server.

Minecraft thinks that you save and quitted the server

Further, the behavior described above reproduces when the whitelisted username does not match in case either. SomeUser is not the same as someuser.

Even if whitelist usernames are intended to be case sensitive (although I suspect this is a property or not of gamertags), it should not result a stalled "Loading Resources" state and should instead report that the user is not whitelisted.
