 Description

From a fresh restart of the PS4 system, starting Minecraft is very slow (8-10 minutes), and once it reaches the game menu (e.g. Play, Settings, Minecraft store screen)Β it freezes entirely - we are unable to interact with the application and the PS4 itself is slow to respond to commands (to back out to the main menu and close the application for example). This appears to be a memory issue but I'm not sure how to confirm that.

We were able to run this version of Minecraft (1.14.41) up until 2 days ago, and it's unclear what specifically changed to trigger this behavior. We didn't create a new world in the last working session, but the size of a world save may have grown.

This has happened once before, just after the release of Bedrock edition, and I was able to fix it by uninstalling and reinstalling Minecraft. However, PS4 doesn't exactly enable uninstall/reinstall, so I had to re-buy Minecraft for that to work, which I don't want to do again.

I suspect this is related to content we had before Bedrock edition: since we updated to Bedrock edition Minecraft has been slow to show the worlds we had created before Bedrock, and has displayed occasional errors related to content from pre-Bedrock packs we bought (unable to load character skin, etc.)

I would suggest looking at the exception handling in the loader: if there is pre-Bedrock content that is corrupted or unloadable, it would be preferable to have the loader prune or ignore that content entirely to have the game freeze and become unplayable.

Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Invalid.

This project is for the Bedrock Dedicated Server software only. The MCCE project is for the old Console editions and is no longer active as they no longer exist. You should now be using the Minecraft (Bedrock codebase) project.

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition — Gear VR, iOS, Android, Windows 10 (from the Windows store), Xbox One, Windows 10 Mobile, Fire TV, Nintendo Switch, and PS4

I would also suggest heading to the Community Support Discord before logging a new report over in the MCPE project as they may be able to help narrow it down or even help get you back up and running.

The bug tracker is exactly that, just a place to track bugs, you won't get someone contacting you to fix your specific issue and I'd hate for you to have a non-functioning Minecraft install while you wait.

Please don't forget to search for an existing issue matching yours in the appropriate project before raising a new one.

This issues should actually probably be in MCCE, not BDS, but MCCE isn't an option.
