| Description |

A new world created in 1.19.51.01 has an issue running on the minecraft bedrock server where structures that are visible in the distance disappear as you move into the chunk. Once the chunk has loaded and the structures have disappeared it will remain that way forever. If the same world is loaded locally on version 1.19.51 the structures load normally and remain. If if the file from the server is moved locally the structures are still missing If the file from the local copy with the structures visible is moved to the server the structures load correctly. |

My local game did also not have files in the behavior pack folder. I locally backed up the behavior pack folder from the server and deleted everything in the behavior pack golder(thinking if all else fails I can just put the copy back).
Restarted the server and bds reinstalled all the files for me. Bug is gone generation is back to normal. I also believe the files got corrupted in one of the updates. |

To follow up, after seeing Thomas' comment, I confirmed that I was able to download my world from my BDS server and run it without issue locally in Win10. My appdata folder did not have a customized Behavior Pack, so I was unable to move it to my BDS server per Thomas' fix. However, I had another server that hadn't been kept up to date, so I installed BDS for 1.20 and imported my world to that server, and was able to confirm that the problem DID NOT occur. I was able to discover a new village and a new ruined portal. My best guess is that something in the many upgrades got corrupted but by starting fresh on the server side, it fixed the issue. Still testing to confirm, but so far it looks good. |

An update from my SMP and some possible insights from my experience. The recent reports to this issue confirm my suspicion that this issue has to do with files/database being updated wrongly, or, missing and corrupted files from updates causing issues. We got frustrated with the lack of progress on this problem, so out SMP started a fresh world in early April 2023. I asked players to stay within 1000 blocks of spawn, so we could enjoy the new 1.20 biomes closer to spawn when the game got updated. Right before the 1.19.83 update, we started seeing an old Bedrock glitch again, which I first reported here in 2021. The glitch with the repeating sunsets. Basically the sun would keep resetting the closer it got to dusk. This problem went away with the 1.19.83 update. This seems to confirm that just updating the core game files resolves that problem. (We don't use any mods). I also wait now 5-10 minutes after a server upgrade, to make sure I don't join the server before the upgrade process is complete. I've only seen this disappearing structure issue once since the upgrade to 1.20. I was boating around, mapping the new terrain. A shipwreck that was partially above water disappeared as I got close, but this time it was replaced by a new shipwreck that was totally underwater. New POI had loot and looked "normal." This shipwreck may have been in a chunk generated during the 1.19 phase of the server. It's in a border zone between old and new chunks. The only related issue we are dealing with now is terrain not totally generating (or rendering) when players re-join the server after some time away. I usually just exit and rejoin. The rendering in 1.20 feels much improved. |

Found a way to fix the bug. Need to go into the app data of minecraft and copy the base games behavior pack folder. Then replace the servers behavior pack folder in the with the one from the app data. Worked for me anyways. Structures are generating again Eigther way something is messed up with the behavior pack folder for structures that comes with the bds software download. |

Problem is still in 1.20. I noticed that when going to were a new village should have been the server console listed an error. 14:13:30:627 ERROR] [Structure] Couldn't find a start anchor named "minecraft:road_anchor" in the structure pool element to place at Pos(1984,0,-6784). |

Can confirm this exists on 1.19.83. i've been wandering my world for a while and noticed as I approach newly spawned villages in chunks I haven't explored before, I can see them in the distance, and they disappear as I get closer. and they disappear based on proximity which is to say nearer structures disappear first as I approach. |

Jacob, no one is going to fix this. Currently, there's no one assigned to it. So it's not being worked on. I'm hoping by commenting we will bump up the visibility. I don't understand how so few people are reporting it as an issue. Where on Reddit or Discord could we raise the profile of the issue? EDIT: I've IM'd mojang support on Twitter. SUGGEST OTHERS DO THE SAME PLEASE. Is there a server other than BDS that we can use? I just traveled to a village location as indicated by Chunkbase and confirmed the bug still exists. Sad |

Chuck, I'm fairly sure you're just going to keep running into this. My survival world hasn't had a single village successfully generate for four months now. Honestly, I don't think anyone is trying to fix this. |

We started a fresh Bedrock BDS server world in April. No big issues so far. Whenever I log in for the first time after a period offline, there are rendering issues. I typically log out and back in, which fixes the issue. But based on my years of experience with this bu and related ones, I'm making frequent back-ups and crossing fingers we can play for a year on this world. As a web developer, I am puzzled by Mojang's lack of response to this bug. If I experience this bug again, I'm going to go the extra mile to get this on their radar. |

This bug is now 4 months old, it is easily re-produced by starting a BDS server, connecting as a client, and traveling to a nearby structure. Vanilla is unplayable with BDS at the moment. How sad that Microsoft can't be bothered to fix it. |

This bug really deserves better attention from Mojang, because at this point, I would tell people that Bedrock is not stable in a shared server environment. We decided to start from scratch with a new world a month ago. Sticking to playing on chunks within 1000 blocks of spawn, mostly to not generate chunks until 1.20 comes out. But already, we're seeing rendering issues when users log into the server. Often, the problem is remedied by logging out and back in. This problem started with the most recent Bedrock update 2-3 weeks ago. I've experienced the problems described in this ticket, along with similar issues, on Bedrock servers every year for the past 3-4 years. I prefer Bedrock and it's sad that worlds can't make it past 6 months. |

Can verify this bug occurs in my Docker hosted BDS server and is present on multiple world seeds. Windows 10 client. |

We've decided to restart our Vanilla SMP with a new world. This bug needs to be fixed and I will keep up-to-date with the progress on fixing this issue. Given that I experience bugs like this on my Bedrock Vanilla SMP every year for the past 3, I would tell people that Bedrock Minecraft software is seriously buggy. I always run into a glitch/bug like this around 6 months into a world. My Twitch viewers and supporters even joke and commiserate about this problem. One of them the other day asked, "Have you ever seen a streamer with a Bedrock SMP whose world is a year old or older?" I will do what I can to help figure out these issues, maybe even learning some of the programming under the hood (I'm a web developer). |

Chmining in as I have been following this issue - it occurs on by Ubuntu dedicated server.
Unfortunatley the latest release does not resolve this issue for my existing world. Verified by TP to various undiscovered structures. Existing lost structures remain blank (e.g. nether portal already found), however I was not hopeful for them. |

Unfortunately, it looks like this problem hasn't been resolved with the new update. Villages and ruined portals now don't appear at all, even as a mirage that disappear as you get close. I explored thousands of new blocks and new biomes on my Bedrock server last night and couldn't find a single new village. The netherrack base of ruined portals is generated, but not any of the structure, including the chest. Desert temples, abandoned mine shafts, jungle temples, and ocean temples spawn normally. Also didn't see any shipwrecks. |

This may be resolved with today's Bedrock update. I logged into my Bedrock server and saw improved rendering of the terrain. I then found an abandoned mineshaft and it didn't disappear when I got close. In fact, a creeper blew up under me and I died falling into lava. In the attached screenshot, you can see some floating oak wood blocks, indicating that the POI spawned like it should. |

I've put together a little Twitch vod to show off the bug on my Bedrock server. This particular world was started when 1.19 was released last June and I moved it to new hosting in my effort to troubleshoot this bug. Timestamps of relevant examples below. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1718998950
Start: General examples of terrain not generating 17 minutes - Pillage outpost generating and disappearing 20 minutes - Ruined portal and village disappearing 23 minutes - Village disappearing |

The problem is that the server does not spawn the structures. So now instead of the client seeing structures in the distance and the server taking over the generation, now there are just no structures at all. |

I've been noticing this behaviour too, and from what I can tell is it's to do with client chunk generation differing from that of the BDS server. Playing on a PS4 for example, I see lots of random effects such as this when exploring a world running on a server, where distant chunks as I get closer appear to regenerate differently when closer, and from that point on they remain static as they generated. I see this less on other platforms (Switch/PC), but it is still there. It feels very much similar to both Setting the server option client-side-chunk-generation-enabled=false seems to completely eliminate this, however you will then run into There seems to be a few other tickets about this same behaviour too ( |
