Me and my friends share a realm, which is set on hard mode, which should give villagers a 100% zombification rate, which means that they will always turn into a zombie villager when killed by a zombie. Despite the realm being on hard, they still sometimes die when killed by a zombie. It's on hard mode, and it bothers us because it messes with our trading hall.
