Issue (Bedrock):
Sometimes Shulker boxes (for example) land inside hoppers when destroyed by pistons. I know dropped items go to random directions but in that case, the item lands inside the hopper (I think it's because the special hitbox of hoppers), but this is definitely a bug.
This issue occur in Bedrock because the physical hitbox of hoppers (when items interact with hoppers physically) is NOT a full block so items can sit next to the hopper, however the hitbox of hoppers (when a player points to a hopper) matches the shape of the hopper, which is good - but physically not.
Java: This issue does not occur in Java, not because the physical hitbox of hoppers are full block (it's actually like bedrock), but because dropped items when displaced in Java don't go too much randomly like in bedrock, which is a different issue happens in Bedrock, maybe MCPE-18229.
I personally think the solution to that problem is to make the physical hitbox of hoppers full block (Bedrock only).
Please see picture and watch the video to understand clearly the problem.
According to @Mega_Spud (Jay), this ticket related to MCPE-46746.
He did told me to open a new ticked because the problem wasn't fixed completely: items can no longer pass through solid blocks, but they can sit next to a block like hopper for example because of his physical hitbox.

EDIT! should be marked as 'works as intended'. this behaviour is 100% similar to java, however I recommend to watch this ticket: MCPE-101391
