Enemies spawning too close and in fully-lit blocks

I've been playing on a realm I bought with some friends for the past few weeks. Ever since the 1.16 update dropped and we reset the realm, we've been having horrible and almost game-ruining spawning bugs. Zombies and other enemy mobs will spawn in full view of us during night time, as close as 15 to 20 blocks away and in full stacks of 2-5 that we watch unfurl as they immediately aggro us. Additionally, we've covered every square inch of our town with torches (including the tops and backs of buildings), and somehow still, without fail, enemies will spawn in town (usually zombies and husks) and attack us upon waking up.

We've lost countless villagers and livestock to this, as well as countless blocks and valuable time to creepers spawning inside our houses just a few blocks away while our backs are turned. The spawn rate and spawn conditions in this version of the game is absolutely out of control. Java's release does not have this problem, and after an incident where a creeper spawned onto a zombie spawner we were trying to make a farm out of and demolished it, we've completely stopped playing the game.

I hope this is fixed or at least addressed soon. We've always kind of hated Bedrock edition since it's buggy, controls poorly, and is just an all-around slog compared to Java, but this experience is so sour that it's turning the lot of us, who have been playing Minecraft for years at this point, away from playing the game in any form.
