When trying to place a new block to give a Villager a profession, they will not accept any. No particles appear, and the Villager doesn't changes it's skin to match the desired profession. The Villager also will not accept trades when right clicking. After several attempts at replacing the Villager, and checking to make sure they weren't Nitwits, the Villagers continue to not accept the profession.
