I just downloaded the most recent update today. 

I was pursued by some hostile piglins while returning from the nether. I was killed in the overworld just outside of my house. When I respawned, several torches that had been placed in my house were missing, and all the items I'd dropped upon death were nowhere to be found. I respawned less than 50 blocks from where I was killed, so nowhere near enough time could have passed for the items to have despawned. I don't know where the torches could have gone, either. Most of my house was dark and I had to craft new torches.
