With the Nether Update just released, I decided to explore new chunks in an old world, (started map on xb360 in 2014) in search of ruined portals. During my travels, I stumble upon a shipwreck almost 5,000m away from home base. Nothing unusual, generated normally, upright, with a captains chest containing the usual treasures and a lower deck chest with a treasure map and an “unknown” map. I glance at the treasure map, and noticed it looked really familiar, but I couldn’t quite place it. I take to the skies, following said map until it takes me all the way back to my main map! Which is roughly around 0,64,0 which is 5000m away from the ship! And since the landscape there has been heavily altered, terraformed, (and it’s  6 years old), the red “X marks the spot” is on solid ground, a much further distance from any water, as treasure would be normally. I excavated the area and couldn’t find any chests, (but they can be sneaky so I’ll make a bigger hole just be sure.) I know new content doesn’t spawn in old chunks, so I’m curious how I managed to find a treasure map that just pretty much led me home 5000m away, which is by far the most distance I’ve ever travelled to find a red “X” location. I actually found it quite comical to be honest, but nonetheless a bug I think needs to be addressed. I will edit this later to update on if I manage to find a chest there, and I’ll try to upload a screenshot as well.
