This is the first time this has happened to me, and I have already tried reloading the chunks and exiting the game and going back in. The issue still persists. The pistons pushing the block can be facing either vertically or horizontally, and they still push the block into the player. Strangely, this does not happen when the piston is pushing the block into the top half of the player. See attached screenshots for examples.
