The Nether Portal's purple stuff doesn't cover the entire obsidian frame on large Nether Portals

I was building a noise machine in my Minecraft world and I know that Nether Portals are loud. So I decided to build the largest Nether portal you could build. I built a 23x23 obsidian frame and set it on fire. It worked fine for the moment and I continued to build my noise machine. But after I closed the game and reopened it,  I noticed that the purple stuff in the Nether portal wasn't covering the entire frame, like it's supposed to. It's only covering a few blocks horizontally, but it goes to the very top of the frame. When I stand in the part that doesn't have the purple stuff, I don't get teleported to the Nether. But the part that has it takes me to the Nether just fine and I can go back to the Overworld without any issues. Hopefully the photo I send works fine. One More thing to note, I tried breaking the Nether Portal and relighting it, but when I broke it, the Portal didn't deactivate! When I broke the portion of the Nether Portal that worked it deactivated, but when I reactivated it, only that portion that you can hopefully see in the picture lit up. Please fix this.
