This occurs in my vanilla MCPE world on my iPad mini 5. When placing a campfire below ground level to protect my bees and the beehive three blocks directly above, placing a carpet between the beehive and the campfire blocks the smoke, making bees hostile when trying to retrieve honey/honeycomb. I’ve seen people use carpets in this same fashion work successfully, and it’s even recommended on the wiki. This happens in my own world while on single player, not a realm. When I try to use shears/empty bottles to retrieve honeycomb/honey, the bees emerge and attack me whenever i’m not in peaceful mode.
