Villagers become untradeable until you logout if you try to trade with them while standing in a nether portal.

      If you stand in a nether portal while trying to trade with a villager they will get locked in trading mode, without the trading menu appearing for the player. They will not sleep, and you cannot trade with them until you re-login to the world.
