Redstone changes unpredictably when leaving chunks.

      The majority of redstone builds and components change unpredictably when leaving the chunks. This is more common on realms, but has also happened on single player. An example of this would be hopper locking:

      When leaving the chunks, hoppers have a chance of unlocking when blocks pass above them, even while they are constantly powered.

       

      Another example, torches not changing to an off state when powered:

      When a torch is being powered through its block, there is a chance, when the nearby chunks are left, that it will remain powered, even though it is being powered by redstone dust.
