      Some recent blocks added into the game don't work properly through the use of /setblock and /fill commands. Their data values have no effect on the block and can be as high as 65535.

      Affected blocks (may be incomplete):

      1. Bee Nest;
      2. Beehive;
      3. Basalt;
      4. Polished Basalt.

      Steps to Reproduce:

      1. Have cheats enabled and type /setblock ~ ~ ~ [any of the blocks above];
      2. Place another block with a different data value next to it and compare both. Notice how the number typed has no effect on the block's rotation, texture, etc.
