Dolphins that are swimming alongside the player occasionally land on the shore and are unable to move back into the water.  

Dolphins exhibit the usual jumping behaviour, jumping above the water level and moving ahead of the player. They no longer detect land within the range of their jump, causing them to “beach” themselves and potentially suffocate.

May be related to MCPE-40355, in which players also cannot detect the water’s edge.
