I hide barrels behind the wall behind my nether portal, and sometimes I walk into the nether portal as I open a barrel and it sometimes, if the timing is just right, will cause containers like barrels and chests to appear open, but you cannot access the items inside the container. I learned that if you then open a crafting block like a crafting table, stone cutter, or cartography table, it will then allow containers to work normally. I have also tried opening a crafting table and walking into a nether portal, but it doesn't seem to have the same bug.

I was expecting maybe the chest would work like a the crafting table and it would close as you enter the portal, however it stayed open, and I could not open any containers until I exited the world and came back, opened a crafting block, or went into another dimension. There is a video clip below that demonstrates how to replicate this issue.
