A pillager was red and leaning over (but it was not dead).  I tried hitting it with a diamond sword.  It stayed alive so I crafted an iron golem which then hit the pillager multiple times.  The pillager fell down off the roof of the woodland mansion and it stayed alive and is still in my world.
