After spawning a villager with a spawn egg, they don't seem to register the houses around them and will not take shelter properly. Villagers already existing in the village work fine. Interestingly, the newly spawned villagers will take shelter in the houses if it rains, though all of them crowd to the same house regardles of their position. They don't take shelter during the night or when chased by zombies.
