me and a friend were trying to play multiplayer using the cross-compatible bedrock edition
I was on my windows 10 laptop, he was on a nintendo switch

we could not connect to eachother's worlds

after trying a whole bunch of different things, i decided to try switching from my custom skin to the default, and that worked on the first try

after this experience, I have discovered that using custom skins breaks the cross-compatibility in some way

either that, or my internet was just being really broken that day, which is very possible
but the skin thing should still be looked into just in case
preferably under more consistent conditions than across several timezones while one side of the situation has to deal with roadworks causing disconnections

I have also attached my custom skin in case there is something wrong with mine specifically

EDIT: i have just discovered that this is actually a known issue, oops
