I have been playing Minecraft in VR with some friends of mine for a good couple weeks now. We have had a lot of fun but I have found numerous issues while playing in VR.
First of all, when one using VR happens to sprint in water, causing them to perform the new swimming animation they are set to start floating into the sky when they exit the water. They are unable to lower or raise themselves or stop the flying. They must reload the world for the bug to stop. This bug only occurs when one is using the Oculus Touch controllers. If using a keyboard this issue is not prevalent.
Additionally, when using VR, occasionally when breaking blocks or hitting mobs, the item you are using to do so may switch off to something useless. For example, when trying to cut down a tree with an axe, the game may switch your item to a cobblestone block. The only way to stop this is by going into your inventory, hovering your cursor over the item and close the inventory again. It would happen numerous times in one sitting.
One more minor issue, one being in experimental, the Trident has an odd animation when being thrown, it floats upwards until it's out of view, making it harder to see where you're actually throwing it. The only way to find where it goes is to look at the cursor. The other issue with the crossbow is the opposite, the firing of the crossbow happens from where the bow is aiming, not the cursor and the positioning of the crossbow in VR is extremely hard to use against mobs. The crossbow is similarly held like a bow in VR when it is very different when you are on Desktop.
I hope this issue is resolved in a coming hotfix, thank you.
