When using a tool with the unbreaking enchantment set to level 32767, it dosent even take a single use of damage, even if mining for 1 hour+. On the other hand, armor with unbreaking 32767 takes damage already after a couple hits, even though im pretty sure it shouldn't. This dosent affect elytras, they will still last for 1+ hours of flight. My theory on why this happens is because whenever you take damage, lets say 10 harts, your armor takes 1 point of damage for every .5 harts. But, when taking more than .5 harts of damage at the same time, your armor takes the durability damage all at once, as if you mined 10 or 5 blocks at once.

Sidenote: When being hit by a wepon with sharpness 32767, your armor breaks in this pattern: helmet, boots, chestplate and leggings. Its weird because often you will get hit but still have your leggings take just a little bit of damage.
