I need help with a resource pack I'm making

I want to add custom noises to the player when it attacks. Basically an attack sound for the player entity

      The thing is: nothing plays.

The sounds are correctly defined in "sound_definitions.json" and play with commands though

"sounds.json" is valid and nothing shows up in the log history

This is a bug/hardcoded thing and unintended behavior

      Editing "attack.nodamage" and "attack.strong" aren't my intentions.

(Additional feedback: "attack.strong" could be used as critical attack sound)
