What I expected to happen was...:
Basically, I expected player1 to attack the other player (Player 2), and then Player1 takes damage because of the thorns enchant on player2's armor, and nothing else happens. 

What actually happened was...:
However, when player1 punches player 2, it causes a chain reaction in the game making the game think that player1 and player 2 are attacking each other non stop (or so I think), Causing the game to get confused, and the server crashes, resetting some progress. Basically, if there are two people with the "Thorns III" Enchantment, and one player punches the other, the realm freezes and crashes. (Or so I think, it could be something totally different. However, me and my friends tested it, and it appears to be the thorns enchant.)

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enchant Netherite armor with "Thorns III" Enchantment. (Boots, leggings, and chest plate are what me and my friends had.) and make two sets.
2. Give one set of armor to one player (player 1), and the other set of armor to the second player (player 2).
3. Have Player1 Punch player2 in a realm, and check to see if it causes the crash.

NOTICE!!!: Like I have said before, It could be something completely different. But we tested multiple things. And we noticed that the crash would only happen, when one player punched another player. It would also only happen when the two players were both wearing "Thorns III" armor.

Other enchants the armor had (that could affect the crash as well):

Netherite helmet: Protection IV, Respiration III, Aqua Affinity I, Unbreaking III, Mending I.

Netherite chestplate: Thorns III, Protection IV, Unbreaking III, Mending I.

Netherite Leggings: Protection IV, Thorns III, Unbreaking III, Mending I.

Netherite boots: Thorns III, Protection IV, Feather Falling IV, Depth Strider III, Soul Speed III, Unbreaking III, Mending I.

ALSO NOTE!!!: We tested this, and everyone had this exact armor, with these exact enchants, in that exact order. It didnt matter which weapon was used, but the game would crash.
