Summary:

Lightning bolt / thunder has a shadow has a shadow at its lower end.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Summon lightning by your side:

/summon minecraft:lightning_bolt (specify the coordinates where you would like the lightning to appear)

Observed results:

The lightning at the place of the call will have a shadow, like a mob.

Expected results:

The lightning will not have a shadow, since the shadow is not a mob.
